When does the new season begin?

Required OSSAA Registration opens yearly after the 4th of July for the upcoming school year. See www.ossaa.com and then select the Officials tab for more information. OASO is a local association and our registration for the new year starts May 1st. You will need to register in both the State and a Local Association to officiate school level ball (7th grade and up)

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to register with the State and/or a local Association if I just want to officiate Youth Sports?

Yes, you do need to register with the OSSAA to officiate any level, OASO is optional if you are just doing youth sports but there is much-needed training at the local meetings - we highly recommend you join both.

How much does officiating pay?

Youth Basketball games are a minimum of $30/hr right now

Varsity Basketball $160/Set, JV Basketball $100/Set, JH Basketball $45/game

Who can Officiate?

OSSAA rules states you must be 16 years old to register as a Sports Official

Certain convictions can keep you from officiating as well - check with the OSSAA for more details.

When does the season start?

Junior High games start in October, Non Football Schools start in early November and Football playing schools can start November 15th.
